How we rank results
The order of any listing is decided only by relevance and evidence. These are the criteria, in order of weight:
- How well the listing matches what you searched for
- Distance from the location you searched
- Whether the practice accepts the insurance you selected
- Whether it offers the language you selected
- Whether the professional license and any certification are verified
- How complete and how recently confirmed the information is
- Placement is not for sale. Claiming a profile unlocks features, never position
What has no effect
Claiming a profile, paying, or any commercial relationship does not change position. Claiming unlocks features, such as photographs, a description, opening hours and insurance detail, and those features are free for any practice that claims its profile.
A practice that has claimed its profile often does appear higher, but only by the legitimate route: its data is more complete and was confirmed more recently, and both criteria are measured the same way regardless of where the data came from.
If sponsored content ever exists, it will occupy visually distinct spaces outside the ranked list and will be labelled. It is never mixed with results.
